Last month in June the biggest news is that all waiting period for employment base green card stay "Current" but now in July, USCIS just announced that no quota for all. Conclusion, you can never know what kind of move that USCIS will make in the future so the best you can do is to apply Green Card ASAP.
It is actually not necessary to have H1B visa first to apply Green Card. You can apply Green Card straight from your F1 Student visa. Consult with your lawyer for more detail.

Can someone tell me where it states that one can apply from F1 status to EB2 Green Card?
Do you know where I can find extra documents to validate this and find more information to back this up?
